Cassonade

Everyday details: the small annoyances of Minecraft, fixed

A handful of small things the game never tells you, or makes you do the hard way. Each works the way vanilla would, if it had thought of it.

Part of Cassonade, a free vanilla+ mod for Minecraft 26.3 (Fabric)

How it works

Small annoyances, fixed one by one.

  • Redstone: with redstone dust in hand, look at a wire to see its power, from 0 to 15; at any other block, whether it is powered. Note blocks show their note.
  • Copper: with a honeycomb or an axe in hand, look at copper to see whether it is waxed.
  • Chests and barrels: a renamed one shows its name when looked at. An item frame on a chest opens it; sneak to turn the item.
  • Chiseled bookshelves: look at a slot to see the book's title, and its enchantments or author.
  • Armor stands are placed with arms, as in Bedrock; shears take them off, two sticks put them back. Sneak and right-click with an empty hand to swap your armor with the stand's.
  • Water cauldrons wash dyed wool, carpets, beds, terracotta and glass: the whole stack for one level of water.
  • Anvil: renaming is free, and a name tag can be crafted from a paper, a string and an iron ingot.
  • Furnaces show the experience they hold, in the “!” icon's tooltip.

Questions

How do I see a redstone wire's power?

Hold redstone dust and look at the wire: its power, from 0 to 15, shows under the crosshair.

Can I make a name tag?

Yes: one paper, one string and one iron ingot, anywhere in a crafting grid. Renaming at an anvil is free.

Does it work in multiplayer?

Yes, with Cassonade on the server for what the server knows: wire power, chest names and bookshelf titles. On a server without the mod, the game falls back to vanilla.
